As a Sarawakian myself I have always been proud of the food in my hometown, Miri. But being a Mirian I am quite ashamed of myself for being quite ignorant of the good food around the Miri city. What can you expect from one who only goes back only once or twice a year and only have homecook meal most of the time? Finally, a good friend of mine forwarded a Miri Food Hunting blog where he has writen quite a bit of reviews. So, do take sometime checking out this food blog, and you know where to go for makan when you visit Miri yea?
Happy reading!

One of the weekdays I was feeling too bored staying at home and working, so I decided to take a break. I have a few rolls of expired slow slide films Kodak Ektrachrome 64, in the fridge, and I was so longing to try it out but because of the slow speed ASA I could only use it to shoot unmoving subjects and steadily mount the camera on a tripod. And so I decided to grab a roll of the film, along with my almost under-utilised Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AIS lens and 105mm f/2.8 Micro AF lens; and my new Velbon Ultra Max i L tripod, off to the KL Orchid Garden for a shoot. I used the FM2n so I could have full control over the camera. Did some double exposure on some of the shots. The film was then cross processed with C-41. I am happy with the outcome.

Sometime last month I was with some churchmates in Klaung, Johor to help up at a conference and graduation dinner. On our last day a friend of Wini took us to this old authentic kopitiam (coffeshop) situated in the Kluang KTM train station called Kluang Rail Coffee. A place packed with crowd. We were there around 11 plus in the morning and we were waiting in the queue for a seat. Finally, we had our place but a small little table next to the window barely enough for four adults and two kids. Loved the kaya and butter bun toast!
These are some shots I managed to take at the coffeeshop. Camera, Nikon F70D; lens, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AIS on most of the shots, and Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AF on a few. Films, Agfa Vista 400 (mostly) and Samsung 400, both expired.

I have thought of blogging about this batch of photos of this lovely lady, Clara, which I took sometime last month (May) over lunch at Santini at Suria KLCC, which I think by far the best photos I have taken of her. Some of you may have known I don’t quite into shooting girls or female models, oh well, Clara, of course, is not a model by profession, BUT I can’t resist taking out my camera each time we meet up
Okay, why this batch of photos of her is so special? I think it has got to do with my experience being the photographer and she being my model. I can recall the first time taking her picture I was a bit too serious looking and bossy? And she was nervous being in front of the camera. Out of the two photos I took, only one turned out presentable. Well, there is always the first time for everyone, right? Second time, we had a short outdoor photo session after lunch. She was a bit more relaxed in front of the camera now, and I was not so hard on the photo direction but able to spot some of the nice angle of her looking at her best. But when the film was developed I was not too satisfied with most of the shots. And this being the third time being caught on camera, I am very happy with the outcome. She looks much more natural compared to the previous two batches. In this batch she looks more natural and funny in some of the shots, which I think it’s pretty interesting.
The camera I used was Nikon F70D. Lens, my favourite 50mm f/1.4 AIS, the one that creates all the bokeh I love to see in every portrait photo I take! Most of the shots were taken at f/2.0, though, except one of them with f/2.8, if I could remember clearly. The film was Fujifilm PRO400 H, one that gives nice and natural skin tone colour, most ideal for portraits. The photos were also converted to black and white tone, just for comparison with the colour ones.
Enjoy the slideshow.

Sorry for not updating my blog as often as I should, and also for posting too many of the political youtube videos and articles.
Let me post up some slideshow of some photos I have taken thus far. Some are really overdue. Let me start with this one, a photowalk at Chow Kit street with Jayna who was back from the UK for a short break in May. We has a walk at the Chow Kit wet market and some surrounding streets. Armed only with a standard lens, 50mm f/1.4 AIS, on my trusty Nikon FM2n, with a roll of black and white film, Ilford HP Plus 400, these were the shots I had captured on that Saturday afternoon.
